CATHOLIC BUSINESS NETWORK TIMELINE
Founding Vision
The idea for the Catholic Business Network was formed over coffee by Michael Shirley and Dan Spencer. What began as a simple conversation quickly grew into a shared vision for connecting Catholic business leaders in Kansas City.
Grassroots Growth
CBN launched with the support of local Catholic business owners who sponsored and championed the mission. The Kansas City Catholic business community became the foundation, driving early momentum and attendance at events.
Expansion Beyond Kansas City
As interest grew, the model proved replicable. Attendees and supporters helped spark similar networks in other cities, including Des Moines, Springfield, Omaha, and Wichita—extending CBN’s impact beyond its original market.
Establishing a Parish Presence
CBN began hosting events at Nativity and St. Michael the Archangel parishes, marking a shift toward deeper integration within the local Catholic community.

The Knights of Columbus became a consistent partner, supporting events by providing meals and helping foster a strong sense of fellowship.
Renewal and Future Growth
CBN enters a new chapter with the formation of a new steering committee, committed to continuing the mission and fostering the growth of the Kansas City Catholic business community for years to come.
